We explore how addiction relates to nervous system regulation, providing practical ways in which professionals may help clients with “stumbling blocks” -- such as widespread shame and stigma -- in creating successful, sustained recovery. Finally, we turn our attention to the larger society, proposing approaches which promise collective repair and restorative healing.
